The team evad3rs responsible for the iPhone 5 jailbreak has given a name to the tool and is now called evasi0n. There is even an URL evasi0n.com to check for the latest update from the dev team. The announcement posted on the web suggest that the tool is almost ready for the release.
The dev team is presently giving the final touch to the GUI and 23h66once finished they will put the software to beta test. If you are looking for the list of compatible devices that the new tool will jailbreak then here is the list: iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2 and iOS 6.1 and the devices running the firmware. So, you can use evasi0n to jailbreak iPhone 5, iPad Mini and all iOS 6.1 compatible Apple devices.
- iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS
- iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini
- iPod touch 5G, iPod Touch 4G
- Apple TV 2
The tool will not take more than five minutes and will require:
- A computer, running Windows, Mac OS X (10.5 minimum) or Linux (x86 / x86_64)
- iPhone, iPad or iPod running iOS 6.0 through 6.1
- A USB cable to connect the handset to the computer
